…created and played a musical score for flute in: A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Jaycie, an 11 year old student who attends Ashton Elementary School will create her own musical adaption for William Shakespeare’s, A Midsummer Night’s Dream using various compositions for flute. Joanne Vecchio, Artistic Director of Second Stage Studio and Steve Kidd, Director of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, have given Jaycie music cues from the script and have left the rest totally up to her. Ms Vecchio stated that: “Second Stage Studio is designed to create a warm, friendly and engaging environment inviting each and everyone who enters to become inspired; to let go and let the spirit of creativity take hold of them. We believe that the creative arts are essential elements in education, in learning, in developing, in maturing. Students at Second Stage Studio are learning to express themselves via the written and spoken word taking the shape of prose, poetry, music, art, song and performance. The themes of love and magic in a Midsummer Night’s dream provide a beautiful framework for such creative expression.”
Jaycie has been playing flute for a year. She is on the Penguin Swim Team and loves school. Her lifelong dreams are to play in the philharmonic, be an Olympian in swimming and a first grade teacher.
