Are You Being Bullied?

Bullying Is…Intimidating, Excluding, Taunting, Teasing, Shunning,Humiliating, Gossiping, Assaulting, Harassing, Stalking…

Bullying can happen…In the classroom, anywhere on school grounds, on the bus and at the bus stop, walking to and from school, at schoolsponsored events, via cell phones and the internet…Anywhere!

You are not alone!

Bullying in the ‘Burbs

A Series of Plays and Presentations titled:  Bullying in the ‘Burbs based upon actual interviews with students and adults who have been bullied, and, hopefully, former bullies, as well as parents and significant others of both.  Plays will be fictional and interviews will be confidential.  Anyone interested in telling their story should contact Joanne Vecchio, Artistic Director.  Find your creative voice through this project.

Sarah Dube

Sarah Dube, Age 7

In 2008, at age seven, Art of  Singing student, Sarah Dube wrote the lyrics to a song:  I Thought I Had A Friend.  Sarah wrote the lyrics based on a personal experience. “It was really hard to write this song, because I had to remember something that happened to me that didn’t feel very good,” she said.
But the outcome was actually very positive. “It was fun working with my idol Keith Munslow, and I hope to do it again.” Performer Keith Munslow, who works with students at Second Stage Studio, wrote the music for Sarah’s lyrics.
At first Sarah could not sing the song without becomming tearful, but as time passed, her song empowered her.  Now, at age nine, Sarah has become an advocate against bullying and stands up for herself as well as others who are being bullied. She has also become sensitive to the fact that the bullies may have their own issues.

Well done Sarah. It was wonderful that you took a bad situation and saw that sharing it with others could make it have a positive meaning. Your lyrics were insightful and charming. Kudos to the man who made the music – Keith Munslow – how lucky you are to be teamed up with such a talented artist. Thanks again for sharing.
